The Sheep Detectives

Not sure if it's the fact I'm not that familiar with sheeps or the skills of vfx artists being that good, but those sheeps sure looked real most of the times!

The plot, I would say, is creative but when you take out the gimmick of the talking sheeps, it then becomes kinda bland and simple. It starts with George Hardy, played really well by Hugh Jackman, who is a shepherd of a small flock of sheeps. From the start we can see how much George cares for his flock, treating them well and even reading detective novels to them. Things start moving when he's found suddenly dead and people (and sheeps) gather around to resolve the mistery of what happened.

The sheeps logic is that they talk among themselves in plain english, but to other humans around it's basically them bleating. They also have to balance the sheeps intelligence: they are smarter than you would expect from real sheeps, but not smart enough that you would start doubting they are animals after all; they get that balance right, getting some jokes here and there aound this.

It can be funny and emotional at various moments of the film, but what seems to lack is a more in-deph detective mistery, one that keeps you changing your theories of who did it every new revelation that pops up.

The novelty of the sheeps doing the detective work is well done enough to forgive some it's lacking features, though if we ever get to see a sequel, I do wish to see the sheeps be more pawns-on, and solve a more difficult case.
