The Devil Wears Prada 2

Lots of familiar faces and references from the first movie, but doesn’t manage to build upon it and fails to be at least as good as it was.

In the first movie, we relate to Andy, played once again by Anne Hathaway here, because she is a newcomer to the fashion industry, she is learning and so are we. This time, the story starts years later, she is a succesful journalist that sadly goes through a layoff along with some of her team mates. After this issue, she ends up having a chance to go back to Runway, the fashion magazine from the previous picture where she started her career. The problem I have with this premise here is that this time, she’s an outsider from the fashion industry and because of that it also feels way more that this is just a mere backdrop of the story that could be anything else. I also feel that her journalist side is not well explored. She’s always doing some calls and talking to old connections which always leads to the results she needs, simple as that.

One last thing to mention is the love affair they added, that actually doesn’t add anything substantial, just like this section of the review.

On a more positive note, the movie does have some funny moments and Meryl Streep still plays Miranda well, even if not as powerful as the previous time.
